HEALTH MANAGEMENT THROUGH MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE
Our circulatory system processes an average of 20 litres of blood per day through capillary filtration which removes plasma while leaving the blood cells. Roughly 17 litres of the filtered plasma get reabsorbed directly into the blood vessels, while the remaining 3 litres are left behind in the interstitial fluid. Which is Lymph, it is similar to blood plasma but contains lymphocytes and other white blood cells. It also contains waste products and debris of cells together with bacteria and proteins.
Our lymphatic system is unique, it is a one-way system that returns lymph fluid via vessels to the cardiovascular system for eventual elimination of toxic byproducts by end organs, such as the kidney, liver, colon, skin, and lungs.
It is an integral part of the Cardiovascular system of our body, comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph, directionally towards the heart. THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM consists –
(1) of complex capillary networks which collect the lymph in the various organs and tissues;
(2) of an elaborate system of collecting vessels which conduct the lymph from the capillaries to the large veins of the neck at the junction of the internal jugular and sub clavian veins, where the lymph is poured into the blood stream; and
(3) lymph glands or nodes which are interspaced in the pathways of the collecting vessels filtering the lymph as it passes through them. Lymph nodes have the concentration of lymphocytes, which are responsible for our immune system.
While in our body, blood is circulated by the pumping action of our heart, lymph moves in the body due to muscles suction. People with sedentary life styles have more health problems due to sluggish circulation of lymph or lymph blockages.
Another reason for lymphatic blockages is emotional blockages. Major lymphatic nodes in our body are in our groin area called inguinal nodes. Which is very close to our Swadhisthan (Sacral/Sexual) Chakra, this chakra is responsible for our emotional balance and sexuality. When we experience emotional stress or emotional blockages they affect the energy in this area causing blockages of these lymph nodes. The blockages of inguinal nodes disturbs the functioning of our organs and glands in that area and may lead to-Fluid retention (edema), Cellulite, Skin Problems, Lower back pain, disturbed menstrual cycle, problems of ovaries, uterus, fertility etc.
Other major lymphatic nodes are in our under arms called axillary nodes (20 to 30 in number) drain lymph from the lateral quadrants of the breast, the superficial lymph vessels from the walls of the chest and the abdomen above the level of the navel, and the vessels from the upper parts of the body. Blockage of these lymph nodes may lead to problems of breast, like breast pain, fibrocystic breast conditions, upper back, neck and shoulder pain etc.
Besides aforesaid conditions Lymphedema, fibromyalgia, varicose veins etc are other common conditions arising out of lymphatic blockages.
These conditions can easily be corrected with Manual Lymphatic Drainage using Aromatherapy massage oils. At aromatantra.com / aromatantra.in you can get more information about this modality.
